Pune police officer caught taking bribe of Rs 5 lakh by ACB

Pune: In order to take back a criminal complaint case, the Police officer attached to Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate has been caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh by the team of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), on Saturday afternoon.

It is now when police had gained respect during the pandemic as Corona Warriors, but such incidents malign the image of the police department and has turned to be shocking to all.

The team of ACB arrested the police sub-inspector Farukh Sayyed Solapure. He was deployed in service under Chikhali police station, which is attached to Pimpri Chinchwad commissionerate. He was heading the station attached to the Chikhali police station. It seems that it's not the first time PSI Solapure has been trapped by the ACB, earlier too he was arrested.

The trap was laid at the premises of Chikali police station on Saturday evening to zero down PSI Solapure, by the ACB Senior Inspector Girish Sonawane and Inspector Sunil Bhile, who carried out the trap successfully and arrested the suspect.

Speaking to Sakal Times Deputy Superintendent of police (ACB) Shrihari Patil said, "There was a case of a person being duped in land and flat investment and for which a builder and a real estate person was involved. The case was investigated by PSI Solapure based on a written complaint. In order to take back the case, arrested PSI Solapure had demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from the aggrieved party to settle it. Based on which the party approached us and we laid the trap. He was caught red handed accepting the bribe amount."

"It has been said that PSI Solapure was arrested earlier by ACB, we are probing it, cannot comment on it," he added.
