Pune: PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar pays surprise visit to Nagar road, reviews pending projects

Pune: Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar paid a surprise visit to Nagar road on Wednesday to review the pending projects in the area including the riverbed road work from Shivane to Kharadi. He was accompanied by Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Sunil Tingre, but none of the local PMC officials was informed about the visit or review. Commissioner Vikram Kumar has assured that he will soon organise a meeting with all concerned departments of PMC and clear all long-pending projects.

The problem of traffic congestion is serious in Wadgaon Sheri, Viman Nagar and Dhanori area along with main Nagar Road. Several road projects and works in this area are pending for various reasons. Therefore, the problem of traffic congestion has persisted for many years turning from bad to worse.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who is also Pune District Guardian Minister, had convened a meeting of PMC and district administration officials recently. The meeting was called after MLA Tingre made demands to solve the problem of various pending road projects including the Shivane-Kharadi road. Pawar had then instructed the concerned officials to come together and resolve these issues. On this background, Commissioner Kumar along with MLA Tingre inspected every road in the area on Wednesday morning.

During his review tour, Commissioner Kumar visited the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Udyan and the riverbank road site in Kalyani Nagar. These projects are mainly pending over land acquisition issues.

He then visited Konark Nagar where the work of road stretch from Reddy Dhaba to CCD Chowk is pending, 509 chowk to Dhanori Jakat Naka Road, Paradium to Seven Haven Society Road in Dhanori, DP Road leading to Dhanori Jakat Naka to DY Patil College, relocation of Buddha Vihar in Vishrantwadi and road work of Commerce Zone to Agrasen High School Road.

Commissioner Kumar assured MLA Tingre that he would seek information from all the concerned departments about the pending roads projects and works and hold a meeting with the concerned to sort out issues as soon as possible.
