The centre is conducting two types of tests, RT PCR test and rapid antigen test. The centre, which started in June, is testing about 400 citizens every day. This has made COVID-19 testing available to the citizens of ward numbers 35, 39, 40 and 42.

Pune: Dr Kunal Khemnar, Additional Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) reviewed the situation at the Sharadchandraji Pawar Multipurpose Bhavan COVID Testing Centre under the Dhankawadi - Sahakarnagar Ward Office.

Patient reports were received three to four days late at the swab collection centre in Dhankawadi. In that context, Khemnar visited the centre and instructed to submit the report to the patients on time. Once the swab is taken, the patient is allowed to go home. Thus the infection spread appears to be on the rise during this period. So the COVID-19 infection spread, which had decreased slightly in the last few days, has started to increase again in the suburbs.

In this regard, Dr Khemnar said that isolation facilities would be provided at the swab collection centre in Dhankawadi for the convenience of the patients. COVID-19 tests were extended across the city to trace new COVID-19 patients. For this, swab collection centres were increased and private hospitals also engaged. Swab collection centres were set up at various places under the ward office.

With the efforts of NCP Corporator Vishal Tambe who is former Chairman of Standing Committee of Pune Municipal Corporation, an updated COVID-19 testing centre has been started at Sharadchandra Pawar Multipurpose Bhavan in Dhankawadi. Khemnar paid a surprise visit to this centre on Thursday.
