Pune: Pending marks verification leaves students fate in hanging; likely to impact first-year admission

Pune: Thousands of students who have applied for verification of marks after the Class 12 results were announced on July 16 are still waiting for the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education to complete the process. As a result, these students are not able to decide on completing the admission process of first-year graduation courses, as each mark is significant to get qualified in the cut-off list of good institutes.

The State Board announced the results of Class XII on July 16. Immediately after this announcement, from the second day onward, the State Board had provided the facility for students to apply for verification of marks in any of the compulsory subjects and photocopy of answer sheets, re-evaluation and transfer certificate to the Divisional Board through its website http://verification.mh-hsc.ac.in. Thousands of students from across the state also applied for it. However, as no response has been received from the divisional office of the state board even after applying, several students have to wait for completing the admission process.

The online marks verification application started from the very next day after the results of Class 12. The students also paid the prescribed fees online. After that, the information on the online application is checked by the students every day. However, if we visit the website to check the current status of the application, it is displaying a message saying 'In process'. Students are clueless at this time about what steps should be taken next as they will have to face difficulties while getting admission in the first year of graduate courses.

Priya Shinde, Secretary, Pune Division, Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education said, "This year, for the first time, online verification of marks is being done. We have received 2,533 applications from the Pune division for verification of marks. Initially, there were some technical problems in the process, but now those have been resolved and the work will be completed within the next week."

"The helpline telephone number allocated for the Pune Division of State Board was not functioning due to repair work. This helpline number is starting soon. Also, the technical difficulties in online quality verification are now resolved which has accelerated the marks verification work," she added.
