The education department of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has taken action against ‘EuroSchool’ in Wakad

Pune: The education department of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has taken action against ‘EuroSchool’ in Wakad on account of flouting orders related to the uniform and books sale. Two rooms at the school in which the stationary, books and uniforms were stored have also been sealed by the PCMC.

PCMC’s Grievance Redress Officer and Supervisor Vilas Patil said, “Several parents had complained to us about ‘EuroSchool’. These complaints were mostly about the school forcing parents to buy uniforms and books despite the orders not to do so. When we inspected the school premises, we found two rooms where books and uniforms were stored and being sold to parents. We also found out that parents were being forced to buy these items. So we have sealed both the rooms used for storing uniforms and books.”

A parent, on condition of anonymity said, “School management forced us to buy uniforms and books at an exorbitant rate. Even if the same books and uniform is available at lower rates at other vendors, the school does not permit us to buy from them. This year even though schools have not reopened, school management forced us to buy books and uniforms.”

Recently, show-cause notices were issued to 19 schools in Pimpri-Chinchwad city after complaints were received from parents about ‘harassment’ from school management to pay the entire fee even though the schools have not reopened this year. Parents have submitted these complaints through email to the education department.

A day before, DY Patil High School in Ambi at Talegaon Dabhade in Maval Taluka has also been issued a show cause notice by the Mangal Vavhal, the Block Education Officer of Maval Panchayat Samiti over the fee payment issue of students admitted under the Right to Education Act.
