Pune: Now MSEDCL to communicate with Punekars via WhatsApp

Pune: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) is set to create about 7,350 WhatsApp groups in the Pune Regional Division in the first phase, through which regular interaction will be held with about 18.37 lakh consumers.

MSEDCL's Pune Regional Director (PR) Ankush Nale has issued a circular. Considering the large power consumers in the Pune Regional Division, the Regional Director at the regional level, the Chief Engineer at the circuit level will be interacting through the WhatsApp group. In addition, a group is being formed for all the office heads from Superintendent Engineer to Branch Engineer as well as Janmitra in urban and rural areas.

MSEDCL has 15 divisional offices, 53 sub-divisions and 233 branch offices in Pune district including Rastapeth, Ganeshkhind, Pune Rural and Baramati. Similarly, about 7.16 lakh consumers will be communicated through about 2,800 groups.

The WhatsApp group will include consumers from all categories including high-pressure industrial customers, people's representatives, housing co-operative office bearers, commercial complex office bearers, important customers, small business association representatives, industrial estate association office bearers, customers on MIDC channels.

The group, which is mainly formed by Janmitras from rural areas, includes Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch, Gramsevak, Police Patil, some customers from the office-bearer along with other customers. The Sarpanch or Deputy Sarpanch or the Gram Sevak will also be able to become group admin. In addition, engineers and technical staff are allowed to add other customers to the WhatsApp group and create more than one group as needed.

 The group will regularly provide information on the reasons for various power outages and possible start-ups, as well as various customer services of MSEDCL and power safety. At the same time, information about the dangerous electrical system received from the members of the group as well as various other complaints will be redressed promptly. However, consumers belonging to this group are only requested to lodge information, complaints, or suggestions related to MSEDCL.

Customers who post any other type of message or the video will be excluded from the relevant WhatsApp group.
