Pune-Nagpur flight returns from mid-air

Pune: The Pune-Nagpur Indigo flight returned to Pune airport a few minutes after its take-off following a snag in the aircraft’s engine on Tuesday morning.

Flight number 6E 134 which was scheduled to depart from Pune at 11.05 am and arrive at Nagpur at 12.30 pm was delayed for more than an hour.

As per the information provided by the officials, “Around 86 passengers were on the flight. The flight took off on its scheduled time. After a few minutes, the pilot saw a caution message of the engine. Nevertheless, the flight made a safe landing.”

The airline released a statement saying, “The pilot of IndiGo A320 operating 6E-134 Pune-Nagpur after taking-off from Pune observed engine caution message. The aircraft returned to Pune. It is currently at Pune and being inspected by the technical team,” said a spokesperson of the airline.

The flight, according to the schedule, had to take-off from Pune at 11:05 am and land in Nagpur at around 12:30 pm. However, only some minutes after the flight took off, the pilot noticed a snag in one of its engines and the flight had to return,” said the source.

According to the source, “The problem was detected in one of the two engines of the aircraft after which the decision to divert the flight back was taken by the pilot.”

The A320neo, powered with the Pratt and Whitney engines, had been facing many issues for almost a year now. Last month, IndiGo grounded an A320neo after it came to light that on January 31, while the flight was preparing for take-off from Lucknow to Delhi, the pilot had found that one of the two engines didn’t have any power.
