Pune: Minor attacked for stealing a pet pigeon; suspects unknown

Pune: Three persons fond of keeping pigeons attacked a minor boy with a sharp-edged weapon in Jadhavnagar area of Sinhagad road, Pune. 

The police have identified the injured as Rohit Bhalshankar (16), a resident of Jadhavnagar, Wadgaon Budruk. The incident came to light after his father Rohit lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at Sinhagad road police station.

Acting on Bhalshankars complaint, the police have registered the case against three unknown suspects under the relevant sections of Indian Penal Code.

According to the police, "The suspects are fond of keeping pigeons. The suspect's pigeon had come near the house of injured Bhalshankar's house a month back. He had caught the pigeon and kept it in a cage with him. So, the trio suspects learned their owned pigeon was with him and they were demanding their pigeon back. They kept asking for their pigeon but he refused to give them back claiming that he owned it and he is taking adequate care of it."

He added, "On Wednesday, around 3 pm the trio went to Bhalshankar house and demanded the pigeon and when he refused to give back, he was attacked by them with a sharp-edged weapon. He has sustained injuries on his hand, abdomen and forehead. After attacking him, Bhalshankar was injured and collapsed on the ground unconsciously in the pool of blood. He was rushed to the hospital and we were alerted. We are investigating the case and probing to find out the suspects and their identity."
