Pune: Mayor Murlidhar Mohol has recovered from COVID-19 and was discharged from a private hospital on Thursday afternoon after five days of successful treatment.
Mohol once again tweeted on Thursday (July 9) at around 7:11 pm about his discharge from the hospital. In his tweet, Mohol said, "I have been discharged from the hospital as no symptoms of Covid-19 are visible. Doctors have advised me to stay in quarantine at home till July 15. I thank all the doctors and their support staff. Once the mandatory home quarantine period is over, I will resume my duty towards the citizens of this city."
Mayor Mohol's test report came to be positive for COVID-19 on July 4. He was admitted to a private hospital in Erandwane for treatment. Mohol himself had tweeted this information. Contact tracing of Mohol had revealed that his eight family members are also COVID-19 positive. Some of them were home-isolated while others were admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Mohol is a Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator from Kothrud, who took charge as Mayor in November 2019. Mohol was active since the first COVID-patient was found in the city. He was involved in all relief work and visited all containment and non-containment zones to overlook the administration's preparation in the battle against COVID-19. He regularly attended all meetings and gave suggestions to civic and health officials for reducing the count of COVID-19 cases in the city. His work and commitment were recently appreciated by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar in front of party chief Sharad Pawar.
