Pune: In a shocking incident, a 37-year-old father who had been sexually abusing his daughter for the last two years was arrested by the police for repeatedly. Incident came to light after the mother caught him red-handed and approached cops.
The girl's mother (35) lodged a complaint with Chikhali police station on Tuesday, which falls under the jurisdiction of Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate. According to the police, the man was arrested on an immediate basis under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.
Shyam Mhaske, the Assistant Police Inspector at Chikhali police station, is investigating the case. "The incidence has been taking place for the past two years. However, during the lockdown, the family went to their village in Latur district, where the man tried to force himself upon the girl. On April 17, when the victim denied and opposed, he forcefully exploited her. The mother witnessed this and rescued the girl," he was quoted saying to Sakal Times. "And while the girl did not reveal to her but mother, the mother suspected his actions. Later when they returned to Pune, he attempted to exploit her again, however this time, the mother caught him red-handed. She rescued her daughter and approached us on Monday."
He further added, "The victim also stated that she has been repeatedly sexually assaulted and abused by her father. He used to threaten her by saying he will kill her mother by giving by adding poison to her meal, or will end himself."
