Pune: Malls, supermarkets set to reopen from August 5; check the new guidelines

Pune: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Friday issued new guidelines for the coronavirus imposed lockdown in the city. The lockdown has been extended by the state government till August in the wake of rising cases in the state.

PMC on Friday declared set of guidelines where some relaxations are given on the lockdown. Shopping malls and supermarkets which are recommencing from August 5 are allowed to operate between 9 am to 7 pm. Also, playgrounds for jogging, outdoor gymnastics, outdoor sports (excluding team games) have been permitted. The standalone shops will have to function on P1, P2 model between 9 am to 7 pm. The situation looks grim in containment zones as essential commodities shops are allowed to run from 8 am to 12 pm and again from 5 pm to 6 pm.

Check out the new guidelines for the city

  • All essential, non-essential shops can operate on P1-P2 basis between 9 am to 7 pm.
  • Vegetable markets, fruit markets, shopping complexes and mall will be allowed to run between 9 am to 7 pm
  • Liquors shops allowed to open.
  • E-commerce activities are permitted. Courier services allowed too.
  • All private offices can operate with 10 per cent of capacity.
  • Construction work which has already been permitted can continue to work.
  • Online food delivery can remain functional.
  • Online learning, online institutions permitted.
  • Garages to mend vehicles and workshops can run but with prior appointments.
  • A person living outside the containment zone can continue working as a domestic maid if the owner allows.
  • Newspaper delivery remains functional.
  • Only 50 people can attend marriage related gatherings with ensuring all rules of social distancing are followed.
  • 20 people can be present during a funeral or last rites.
  • Senior citizens who need helpers or caretakers can also work.
  • Use of vehicle is allowed for work (wearing mask is compulsory):
    Two-wheeler: Rider + pillion (with helmet and mask
    Four-wheeler: Driver + three
    Taxi: Driver + three 
    Rickshaw: Driver + two
