Pune-Kochi flights cancelled

PUNE: All the flights from Pune to Kochi have been cancelled due to heavy rains in Kerala till Sunday. Heavy rainfall has affected the air services leading to the cancellation of several flights on August 9. The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has suspended all domestic and international flight operations till August 11. 

Authorities said that the Kochi International Airport runway has been waterlogged. “Kochi Airport closes operations till 3 pm on Sunday (11/08/2019),” the airport authority said in a statement. Pune Airport Director Ajay Kumar said, “All flights have been cancelled due to heavy rains in Kerala.”

IndiGo has also cancelled all flight operations to/from Kochi. “All the flights to/for Kochi are impacted due to airport closure owing to the flood situation. We’re offering change and cancellation fee waiver to the passengers travelling between August 9 to 11,” Indigo tweeted.

SpiceJet tweeted, “Due to the prevailing flood situation, the Kochi airport has been temporarily closed for operations. SpiceJet was offering a full refund and waiver of cancellation/change fees (fare difference applicable) for all flights to/from Kochi for travel scheduled between August 9 and 11.”

A regular flier Vijay travelling from Pune to Kochi, said, “I had to travel on Friday. The airline sent me a message when I was leaving home for Pune airport.”
