Pune: JEE Main examination aspirants number down by 7.12 per cent

For the JEE Main examination held in January, 9.21 lakh students took B Tech, while for the September exam, 7.46 lakh students have registered. 

Pune: The number of students appearing for JEE Main Examination, for seeking admission to engineering degree courses in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) across the country, has decreased by 7.12 per cent. The statistics were revealed by the National Testing Agency (NTA)based on the total number of students who registered for the September 2020 exams.

For the JEE Main examination held in January, 9.21 lakh students took B Tech, while for the September exam, 7.46 lakh students have registered. This examination is conducted from September 1 to 6 and will be held in 224 cities in India and 8 cities abroad. It includes 605 centres for B Tech and BE and 489 centres for B Architect and B Planning.

Students who wish to take this exam will have to overcome several hurdles to reach the exam centre. Most students have relocated from the city to their hometowns as Covid-19 cases increased in the city areas. These students had chosen examination centres within the city. But now they will have to travel back for the JEE Main exam even though the Covid-19 situation has not eased.

- B Architecture: 13,609

- B Planning: 699

- B Tech and B Architecture: 53,520

Before going to exam centre

• More time may be consumed for checking and sanitisation at the test centres due to Covid-19 situation. Therefore, students should reach the examination centre at least one hour before the exam time

• Students may be given a specific 'time slot' to reach at the examination centre, which should be followed by them and reach within the stipulated time

• Students will have to show the admission card of 'JEE Main 2020' along with their identity card before entering the examination centre

• No other luggage or items will be allowed to be carried to the examination centre

• Social distancing norms will have to be followed after entering the centre
