Pune: Information centres at Lohegaon airport receive good response from passengers

Pune: If you happen to visit the Lohegaon airport you would be offered 24x7 assistance for any information related to the facilities available at the airport, getting boarding passes, missing or misplaced luggage, good hotel to stay nearby and any other query.

Ajay Kumar, Director of the airport said, “In western countries, there is an information centre for passengers in the airport premises. On the same lines, two centres have been set up at the Pune airport too. The two centres will employ 21 youths in three shifts. The operation of these centres has started from Friday (September 11). Two separate centres have been set up for assisting passengers departing from Pune and for the assistance of passengers arriving in Pune city.”

“Guidance will be given through these centres to resolve any issues related to facilities available at the airport, flight schedules, disputes with airlines, issues regarding passenger luggage, information about Pune city, travel facilities, medical aid, security, etc. These centres will have 21 youths and they have been given special training for assisting passengers,” he added.

These youths will be on duty for about eight hours. Passengers often need information while being on the airport premises. But they are unaware about whom to ask for. Security personnel are busy with their work. As a result, passengers find it difficult to get answers to their queries. With this in mind, these two centres have been set up for passengers, said Ajay Kumar. The Lohegaon Airport administration informed the passengers about this initiative through their Twitter account. Tweeples also responded to it positively.

Lakhpat Singh Dab, a passenger said, “Lohgaon Airport has started this good project by identifying the exact needs of the passengers. It has also provided employment to the youth. Congratulations to them.”

Another passenger Arvind Dua said, “Passengers otherwise also need help at the airport. But it takes more time in this crisis period of Covid-19 outbreak. Therefore, the administration has taken a good decision considering the need of the hour.”
