Pune: Hospital owners to submit registration copies to IMA

Pune: It is becoming increasingly impossible for COVID-19 hospitals to meet the daily expenses of running small and medium-sized private hospitals at affordable rates imposed by the Maharashtra government.

On Tuesday all the hospital owners from among the members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) will submit a copy of their hospital registration to the IMA branch office.

They cannot afford to run hospitals with government-mandated rates and the government will be urged to run them.

The Indian Medical Association has said that the government should taste the taste of self-made medicine.

The IMA had on September 12 convened a meeting of 24 different medical institutes for all ailments including Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani and Dentistry.

All the organizations have supported the IMA movement and have decided to set up a joint action committee to work together. If the government does not accept the demands of doctors in the next seven days, all doctors in Maharashtra will stop working indefinitely, the meeting agreed.

The government, in a circular issued on August 31, imposed new unilateral rates and tightened the existing rates.

The IMA protested against the notification at a state-level emergency state council meeting on September 4 and launched an agitation against it.

All the 216 branches of IMA on September 9 paid homage to all the martyred doctors in Maharashtra and brought to the notice of the people that doctors are not extorting the patients but also serving the patients by sacrificing their body, mind, money and time.

On September 10, all the branches gave the reasons for the agitation to all the district and taluka respective level government administrators.

On September 11, all IMA members burned copies of the Medical Council's registration across Maharashtra in protest of the tyrannical behaviour of government officials.
