Pune: With 4,717 new coronavirus cases in one day, Pune district continues to witness a huge spike with total crossing the mark of 2.20 lakh. Also, 90 deaths were reported in the region taking the tally to 5,000 in the region. Of the 5,059 fatalities, 8,896 are reported from the Pune city (Pune Municipal Corporation) followed by 1,026 in Pimpri Chinchwad (Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation) and 1,137 in Cantonment and rural areas.

From the past seven days, Pune is crossing the total of 4,000 new cases which has resulted to increase the caseload to 41,058. In the region, 23,607 are receiving treatment for the contagion from different hospitals whereas 17,451 are in home isolation.

Talking about the Pune city, 1,464 patients were discharged from various hospitals on Saturday. While 1,909 new cases were reported on Saturday while 42 people lost their lives. Also, 6,626 swab samples were collected in 24 hours.

As per information by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the total number of COVID-19 patients now has jumped over 1,17,679 out of which 97,489 have been cured while 2,748 succumbed to the novel virus. There are still 17,442 active cases of which 910 are critical while 473 are on ventilator support.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra became the first state in the country to cross the grim mark of 10 lakh COVId-19 cases. While the total of cases reached over 10 lakh the death toll due to the contagion reached over 28,724 across the state.
