Pune: Chikhali man dies six hours after stabbing married woman over one-sided love affair

Pune: Arvind Sheshrao Gade, the 30-year-old man - who killed a married woman over his one-sided love affair - died six hours after he was admitted to a private hospital for treatment of the serious injuries he had sustained during the assault in Chikhali.

Rani Satish Landge (29), a resident of Ajantha Nagar in Chinchwad was stabbed by Arvind on Saturday (August 1) afternoon at around 1:30 pm near Tiranga chowk at Shivtej Nagar in Chikhali. Arvind was her neighbour with whom he had a one-sided love affair.

Rani and Arvind being neighbours were acquainted with each other since the past few months. Arvind used to chat frequently with Rani and was in love with her. Rani was friendly with him, but refused his advances and informed her husband about Arvind's conduct. Rani's husband had then warned Arvind to stay away from her, but he kept on calling on Rani's mobile phone last month. Rani had to change her mobile number to avoid calls from Arvind.

After Rani snubbed him, Arvind apprehended her while she was walking down the footpath at Tiranga chowk in Shivtej Nagar of Chikhali on Saturday afternoon. Arvind attacked Rani with a knife in which Rani died on the spot.

After killing Rani, Arvind then attacked himself too with the knife. He was seriously injured in the attack. Citizens had rushed both of them to a private hospital. Rani had succumbed to the injuries before reaching the hospital. Arvind succumbed to the injuries on Saturday evening at 7:30 pm.
