Pune: BJP MLAs Mukta Tilak and Rahul Kul test positive for COVID-19

Pune: Members of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Rahul Kul and Mukta Tilak of Daund and Kasba Peth assembly constituency respectively have tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. Both leaders are asymptomatic and have been advised to stay at home for the mandatory quarantine period.

Mukta Tilak was former Mayor of Pune city and was elected as MLA from Kasba Peth constituency in November 2019. Mukta's 85-year-old father Vasant Limaye was earlier found to be Covid-19 positive and he succumbed to the coronavirus infection on Thursday (July 2). Later, all her family members were traced and tested for Covid in which it was revealed that she and her mother were positive, while reports of others were negative. Mukta Tilak and mothers condition is stable and are in home isolation.

In her tweet, Mukta Tilak says, "Today me and my mother have tested positive for Covid-19. We both are not showing any symptom and have been advised by doctors to be under home quarantine and have thus self-isolated. All other family members have tested negative. Stay Home, Stay Safe."

Meanwhile, Rahul Kul was also home quarantined on Tuesday. Entire Daund city has been declared as a containment zone from July 7 as the number of COVID-positive cases are consistently on the rise.

Kul had won from the Daund assembly constituency 2019 elections on a BJP ticket. Kul announced about his COVID-positive report on his Facebook page. In a long post written in Marathi, Kul says, "According to doctors advice, i had undergone the COVID-test whose report has come positive today. Fortunately, all my family members, colleagues and office staff's report has come negative. My health is stable and recovering well. I had attended several meetings and was involved in relief work during the lockdown and thus had to interact with lot of citizens. Due to this, coronavirus infection was bound to happen irrespective of how much precautions i had taken. Even though, I am in isolation citizens can contact me on my helpline if they need any help."
