Pune: Beauty parlour owner ends life after neighbours taunt her character; police registers a case against two women
Vaishali, a resident of Ambergaon, Pune, took her life after she couldn't take the constant dispute with her neighbours over the payment of her flat instalments.
Pune: Fed-up with neighbours who constantly passed sarcastic remarks along with disputing over non-payment of flat instalments, a 30-year-old woman who ran a beauty parlour in Pune committed suicide in Ambegaon area.
The police have identified the deceased as Vaishali Raul (30). A case has been registered against two neighbouring women at Bharati Vidyapeeth police station which falls under the jurisdiction of Pune city. The incident came to light after the deceased's husband lodged a complaint regarding the same.
Vaishali committed suicide at her residence on June 14, but the First Information Report (FIR) was registered on Saturday after the husband of deceased finish all the rituals. In the meantime, the police continued investigating the case.
According to police, "The deceased woman was staying along with her husband at Srustilake Apartment, in Ambegaon Khurd. The husband was a rickshaw driver while the deceased woman was running a beauty parlour. He purchased a flat in this society some three years ago. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, there was no income for the duo. Neither in the auto-rickshaw nor in the beauty parlour business. Both businesses were into losses, which caused them to slip into a financial crisis. Due to this, the duo could not repay the house instalments.”
He went on, “The two suspected women stayed near her residence.
They would taunt to Vaishali have a bad character, and spread rumours about them. On Sunday, June 14, the two women and the complainant’s wife had an argument over the same issue. The two women started abusing her and threatened her to pay the amount of the flat instalment. Some male person, too, came to their house and made obscene allegations about her character along with abusing her. Vaishali felt insulted and helpless, and that led her to take this extreme step.”
Assistant police inspector Avinash Kavthekar of Bharti Vidyapeeth police station, who is investigating the case, said, “Vaishali could not bear the shock of suspicion on her character and committed suicide by hanging herself on the same day. Meanwhile, after her husband recovered from the shock, he approached us and lodged a complaint. A case has been registered against the two women for abetment to suicide under the relevant section of Indian Penal Code. We are investigating the case and arrest both the women who are on run.”
