Pune based lawyer commits suicide by jumping in river

Pune: A 46-year-old Pune based practicing lawyer ends life by jumping in Bhima river on Tuesday in Khed.

The police have identified the deceased as Chandrashekhar Kondhiba Takalkar (46), a resident of Tinewadi road in Rajgurunagar. A case has been filed with Khed police station and further investigation is going on.

The incident came to light, after Chandrashekhar went missing and his brother Amit approached the police and based on which the police and Takalkars were searching him and late evening on Tuesday his body was fish out from Bhima river in Rajgurunagar in Khed taluka of Pune district.

Deceased Chandrashekhar who is practicing lawyer in Pune District and Session Court as well as in Khed court. He was currently leading lawyer in Rajgurunagar based District court. He was former Khed Bar Association former president.

According to police, “The incident took place on Tuesday when Chandrashekhar was returning back home from court and was using an old bridge at Kadareshwar on Tuesday around 3 pm. Few other colleagues of Chandrashekhar were observing his movement on the bridge and before them he jumped into the Bhima river. Few local residents who saw him jumping immediately jumped into the river to save him but could not find him as due to heavy rainfall in the area the river was overflowing. Later with the help of local residents, police and other swimming experts. They finally fished him out by using the net.”

The police officials added, “Chandrashekhar’s brother Amit approached us and lodged a complaint to probe the reason of his suicide based on it, we have registered an First Information Report (FIR) and investigating the case.”
