Pune-based agro mobile platform wins SmartUp 2017

Pune: City-based startup Marketyard Agrisolutions has been named winner of SmartUp 2017, a pan-India B-plan Competition organised by startup accelerator Espark-Viridian and Headstart Network Foundation.

Marketyard Agrisolutions is a mobile platform that enables users to buy, sell and rent everything related to agriculture using classified services. It provides hourly weather forecast, digital land records, local business listings etc.

“They help farmers directly sell produce to end consumers. Machstatz from Bengaluru, an end-to-end solution in IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) space, was the first runner-up and ClinMD from Jaipur, which help doctors record, store and digitise handwritten notes and prescriptions, was chosen the second runner-up. The winning teams were awarded a cash prizes of Rs 1 lakh, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000,” officials said.

“India has a youth population of 1.25 billion and entrepreneurship is the need of the hour. Our endeavour has been to identify budding entrepreneurs and provide them all necessary support. It is important to nurture and guide an idea in its early stage to ensure it reaches its maximum potential,” said Vibhuti Channa, Director, Espark-Viridian Accelerator.

Twenty-five startups were shortlisted by the jury, after which the event culminated at Kirori Mal College in New Delhi. “Such competitions provide a good platform for young entrepreneurs to showcase their talent and gain from one on one mentoring. I now have clarity for enhancing my idea,” said Anil Lade from Marketyard Agrisolutions.
