Pulotsav will go global

Pune: On the occasion of Pu La Deshpande’s centenarian birth anniversary, which is November 8, Aashay film and Sanskrutik Club in collaboration with Square 1 events and Punyabhushan Pratishtanand with the support of the Pu La Deshpande family, will be organising Global Pulotsav not only in India but also
worldwide.

The Pulotsav Festival, which has been taking place for the past 14 years, will be organised this year in 20 cities across India such as Pune, Mumbai, Sangli-Miraj and Solapur as well as in 30 international cities of Europe, Asia, America, Canada, Africa and Australia. The festival will be held from November 8, 2018 to November 8, 2019. The festival will also serve as a platform for native artists to showcase their talents, and over 500 artists are expected to attend the festival.

Talking at the press conference here in the city, Virendra Chitrav, festival director, said, “It is high time that the youth of India become familiar with the great Pu La Deshpande.” There are several books authored by Pu La Deshpande, which are not being published anymore because of which somewhere down the line, his works are no more available for the people to read. Through this festival, Chitrav believes people and more specifically the youth will come a step closer to Pu La Deshpande and take his legacy forward. The logo of the Global Pulotsav was released at the hands of the famous author DM Mirasdar.
