PSCDCL initiates citizen engagement campaign

PUNE: Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited (PSCDCL) has started an initiative to visit societies and carry out awareness campaign for the smart city project with the engagement of people in smart mission. Earlier, smart city mission was conducting meetings at their office for citizen engagement. Now, PSCDCL has formed two teams with a target to cover two societies in a week.

A public awareness campaign is being carried out for the smart city projects under Pune Smart City Mission. Dr Rajendra Jagtap, Chief Executive Officer of Pune Smart City Mission came up with the idea of people engagement with visiting societies in Baner, Balewadi and Aundh areas.

“The purpose behind this is to discuss the different concepts of development with the citizens. The next phase of this citizen engagement campaign was started recently in Sayali Garden Society and Harsh Vihar-B Society in Aundh. Through this initiative, concepts and ideas of the smart city projects and related work will be explained to citizens. Also, suggestions from citizens will be taken into consideration to resolve their problems. In this way, citizens will directly participate in the developing smart city, so that inclusive development of the city will take place. Right from children to senior citizens all can participate in this initiative,” Jagtap said.

“Pune smart city projects have received appreciation at the national level even from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. We have been able to achieve a lot due to the encouraging and positive response from the citizens of Pune. Citizen engagement initiative will be useful at all levels to create awareness about smart city projects and engage with Puneites on a frequent basis. Earlier, we were calling people to our office. Now, we have decided to approach people by visiting different societies. We are getting a good response from them,’’ Jagtap added.
