Producers Guild of India to set up relief fund for daily wage earners

The State government had issued a circular asking to stall shootings of film, television and OTT productions owing to the COVID-19 epidemic from March 19 to 31. However, in a new circular, the date has been preponed to March 18.

PUNE/MUMBAI: The Producers Guild of India on Wednesday, announced that they would set up a relief fund for the daily wage earners affected by the complete shutdown of film, television and OTT productions owing to the COVID-19 epidemic. 

The State government had issued a circular asking to stall shootings from March 19 to 31. However, in a new circular, the date has been preponed to March 18. 

“In light of the complete shutdown of all production-related activities for the foreseeable future due to the COVID-19 outbreak, there is bound to be a significant impact on the lives and livelihoods of daily wage earners in the industry. The Producers Guild has decided to set up a relief fund to help support those who are most affected by the shutdown,” said Siddharth Roy Kapur, President of Producers Guild of India in a statement issued. 

He further added, “We would encourage the entire fraternity to contribute to the fund, to ensure that we do everything we can, to minimise the disruption in the lives of our valued colleagues and associates in this difficult time.”
