Police screen visitors to rape survivor’s kin

Pimpri: As a precautionary measure, the Pimpri Chinchwad police have been screening visitors to the family members of a minor rape survivor at Kasarsai and allowing visits only after receiving a nod from the higher authorities.

The police have recently arrested two youths from Darumbre village in connection with the recent alleged sexual assault on two minor girls, taking the total number of arrested persons to four. One of the raped girls had died while undergoing treatment.

The arrest of the two youths from Darumbre had evoked a strong reaction from local residents. The rape survivor is the lone witness in the alleged sexual assault incidents. Therefore, suspecting threats to her and her family members, the police authorities have imposed curbs on the people trying to visit the girl and members of her family.

Senior police authorities have asked the local police to maintain record of all those visiting the family of the rape survivor. Accordingly, a police van and a team of police personnel have been posted near the girl’s residence. The police register personal details of the visitors including name, address and mobile number and inform senior police officers. The visitors are permitted to meet the girl’s family only after receiving sanction from the higher ups.
