Police bust gang of high-flying burglars

PUNE: The Kondhwa police have busted a gang of alleged thieves, some of whom used to come to the city by flight and commit burglaries. The police have recovered stolen ornaments worth Rs 4.68 lakh from their possession. 

The arrested thieves have been identified as Mohammad Salman Zulfiqar Ansari alias Salman Ansari (27), Nafasat Wahid Ansari (29), Riyasat Riyazudding Mansuri (28) and Rizwan Nizamuddin Shaikh (25), Faisal Zulfiqar Ansari (22), all natives of Uttar Pradesh, Musharaf Yamin Qureshi (35) from Nigdi, Wahid Khurshid Mansuri (33).

The accused had been frequently commuting to the city either by air or via railway. They would break into house and steal valuables. Cases are registered against them with Wakad, Kondhwa and Nigdi police stations. 

Police said the accused persons used to cover their faces while committing burglaries. However, the police scanned CCTV footages and found that they would travel by autorickshaws. The driver Wahid was arrested who led the cops to other accused. 

DCP (Zone 5) Prakash Gaikwad, ACP (Wanawadi division) Milind Patil and senior Police Inspector Anil Patil, in-charge of Kondhwa police station supervised the investigation team which included API Chetan More, PSI Santosh Shinde and others.
