PMRDA plans `26K cr budget for Mobility Plan

Pune: The Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) has planned 125 km of metro line, 70 km of light metro line and 210 km of BRTS network as part of their Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) for 20 years. In phases, Rs 26,741 crore budget for CMP has been planned including Rs 300 crore on bicycle tracks.

The PMRDA has also planned multi-modal integration hubs at 18 locations in the district. Officials of the PMRDA said the plan includes capacity augmentation of existing sub-urban rail service and adding new lines for goods and sub-urban rail service in metropolitan region, development of 128 km ring road, development of 80 km internal ring road, widening of arterial roads/ state highways like Pune-Satara, Pune-Solapur, Pune-Ahmednagar, Pune-Nashik and connectivity to the proposed Purandar Airport. 

“5 ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminals) outside PMC and PCMC limits, six truck terminals outside PMC and PCMC limits are part of the plan,” said an official from PMRDA.

Kiran Gitte, PMRDA Chief said stakeholder consultations have been conducted with all organisations involved. “Major stakeholders being PMC, PCMC, MahaMetro, Railways, Airport, PWD, MSRDC, traffic police and NGOs meeting at individual and joint levels have been conducted by PMRDA. The plan is approved by the working and executive committee of PMRDA which is headed by the CM,” he said.
