PMC to take Bappa's help to attract tourists

PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to promote the Ganesh Festival of Pune on national and international level in order to attract more toursists on the occasion of 125th year of the festival. 

Briefing the media about the promotion city mayor Mukta Tilak said that the PMC has made the provision of Rs two crore in its annual budget for promoting Ganesh Festival and the civic body has already sought suggestions and advices from various ganesh mandals, citizens and experts in the field about how to celebrate the festival to promote it at national and international level.

Even this is the 125th year of the festival so the PMC does not want to leave any stone unturned to make the festival as the attraction for tourists at national and international level. “The PMC even decided to come up  with a theme song for the festival starting from August 25 and an audio-video song to promote the festival,” Tilak said. 

A mascot and social networking platforms like snap chat, Instagram will also be made available for the citizens to share their memories during the ganesh festival and selfie points will also be made available for the tourists. “On the occasion of 125th year of the festival the  PMC will organise dhol-tasha playing by 5000 school students to make a Guinness Record,” Tilak said. Even a competition based on decoration during ganesh festival for housing societies will also be organised by the PMC to involve citizens in the celebration at the same time.
