PMC removes more than 4K unauthorised flexes, posters

Pune: After strong criticism by people over the issue of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahajanadesh Yatra’s  unauthorised flexes, banners and hoardings, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) took action on Monday. Civic sources said they removed 4,331 flexes, flags, posters and banners.

On Saturday, BJP’s Mahajandesh Yatra passed through the city. On this occasion, BJP aspirants for the State Assembly polls erected  flexes, flags, posters, banners along the route of the yatra.

People objected to that and netizens joined in on social media. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis apologised for the traffic chaos and criticised the putting up of the banners and hoardings. After that, PMC took action.

PMC Deputy Municipal Commissioner  Mahesh Doifode said, “It is difficult to point out the exact number of BJP’s Mahajandesh Yatra’s flexes and posters. During Ganesh Festival, there were posters, banners in the city. In Monday’s action, we removed all posters, banners, flexes and hoardings including those from the Ganesh festival and Mahajanadesh Yatra.”
