PMC panel okays Rs 2.8 cr for CPR manikin training kit

PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Standing Committee has approved the budget of Rs 2.80 crore to procure the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) manikin training kit for  2019-20.

The training kit includes a basic manikin (a jointed model of the human body used in anatomy) with the latest android tablet which will be used in the CPR training kit. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is an emergency procedure, where the rescuer provides artificial ventilation by either exhaling air into the mouth or nose of the survival.

After the budget approval, the PMC will procure new tablets that will maximise the victims’ chances of survival from the cardiac arrest.

Senior health officials from PMC’s Health Department, who do not want to be named, said, “Using this android tablet which has been added to this procurement will help effectively in saving several persons. Nearly, 60 per cent of people die before reaching the hospital, hence, this CPR manikin training kit will help in improving survival rate and saving lives.”
