PMC derecognises 17 schools

Pune: The Education Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has derecognised 17 schools for year 2018-19. A notice released by PMC said if the derecognised schools continue to give admissions and function without gaining the required approvals, parents may get deceived and hence all ward offices have been instructed to display the list of these schools prominently.

“Some of the schools do not have government approval. While there is a need to take approval from the government to shift the location of a school, some of the schools in the list have failed to get it. Also, some have not carried out the inspection and renewal of approval, which they have to do with the PMC. These are the main reasons why these schools have been derecognised,” Shivaji Dandkar, PMC Education Officer, said. He added, “Students at these schools can continue to do so, provided the schools complete their procedures. This is a notice to them. Once they complete the process, they will be recognised again.” Until then, the PMC has appealed to parents not to take admissions at these schools without verifying their  approval status.
