Pimpri Metro work on in full swing

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) had earlier urged  MahaMetro authorities to postpone the Metro station work in view of the ongoing Ganesh festival. But the request was turned down, citing urgency in completing the work at the earliest.

Pimpri: The MahaMetro has undertaken the work of Pimpri metro station on a war footing to minimise hardships to the road users at the busy Morwadi Chowk here.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) had earlier urged  MahaMetro authorities to postpone the Metro station work in view of the ongoing Ganesh festival. But the request was turned down, citing urgency in completing the work at the earliest.

Pimpri Metro Station will be set up at Ahilyadevi Holkar Chowk in Morwadi. The work for the Metro station has been presently undertaken opposite the municipal corporation headquarters. The work at Morwadi Chowk will be taken up soon after the Ganesh festival, sources said.

There will be altogether 20 pillars of the Metro from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk to Ahilyadevi Holkar Chowk. Of these 10 will be for the Metro station.

There will be altogether six Metro stations in the jurisdiction of PCMC. The other five will be located at Vallabh Nagar, near Kasarwadi railway station, near Alfa Laval company, at Phugewadi and near the College of Military Engineering in Dapodi.
