Pune: The education department has issued show-cause notices to 19 schools in Pimpri-Chinchwad city after complaints were received from parents about ‘harassment’ from school management to pay the entire fee even though the schools have not reopened this year. If the schools do not reply with ‘satisfactory’ reasons for demanding the fee payment, the education department will take further suitable action against them.
School management is asking parents to pay the entire fee amount to secure their child's admission for the academic year. Parents are being threatened of an academic year loss, if the complete fee payment is not done immediately.
Jyotsna Shinde, administration officer said, “Parents have submitted these complaints through email to the education department. We have issued show-cause notices to the concerned schools based on these complaints. Action will be taken against those schools who have not submitted a satisfactory response to the notice. The administration will take suitable action against such schools if they do not follow norms and harass parents.”
A parent, on condition of anonymity said, “Due to the Covid-19 situation, some parents have lost their jobs, while some have had to accept a salary cut up to 70 per cent. School management is however insensitive towards the financial condition of these parents. If the schools are not going to reopen till at least Diwali, then why should parents pay the entire fee for the year? From where do parents arrange 50 to 90 thousand rupees if they have lost their employment?”
