Pimpri-Chinchwad police takes strict action against lockdown violators

Pimpri: Although the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has given some relaxations on the lockdown, people here are seen flouting all the rules of the lockdown. People aren’t aware though lockdown has eased, there are some restrictions still in place. The police and the administration have laid down some rules for the ‘Unlock’ process but it is being ignored by some citizens of the Pimpri-Chinchwad area. This has resulted in the Pimpri-Chinchwad police take actions against 143 such violators.

The police and the administration have been urging citizens to abide by the rules in the Unlock. To follow and aware people, the police have already deployed blockades and security at various places.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad police have also intensified the patrolling in the area, though many areas are witnessing traffic jams while people are seen flouting the lockdown norms. The social distancing is on toss while many are seen venturing without masks. The police are taking action against such citizens. Many are travelling stating the reason of buying essential items and are giving medical reasons to venture out.

Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate took action under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code which resulted in 143 people facing stern actions.

There were total 143 cases reported which comprised of MIDC Bhosari (31), Bhosari (11), Pimpri (11), Chinchwad (11), Chakan (3), Dighi (10), Sangvi (20), Wakad (5), Hinjewadi (5), Dehuroad (3) Talegaon Dabhade (10), Chikhli (21), Shirgaon Chowki (2).

Meanwhile, the administration has appealed people to travel only for urgent reasons and only after getting permission (e-pass).
