PCMC seeks tenders for construction of Bopkhel bridge

Pimpri: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has invited tenders for construction of a bridge over Mula river to provide access to Bopkhel residents.

A notice inviting tenders for the construction of Rs 45.46 crore bridge was released on February 6. The move has paved the way for providing easy access to the residents of Bopkhel village to reach Khadki.

For the past several years, the residents of Bopkhel were using a road in the jurisdiction of the College of Military Engineering (CME) to reach Dapodi. The road was however closed for the people, following an order of the Bombay High Court in May 2015.

The residents of the affected village had also launched an agitation to demand easy access from the defence establishment’s land. The PCMC has now decided to construct a bridge and an approach road over Mula which will connect Bopkhel to Khadki. The municipal corporation has also made a financial provision for the construction of the bridge.
