PIMPRI: With relaxation of the Model Code of Conduct for the Assembly polls, the headquarters and other offices of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) are limping back to normalcy with people visiting these offices for various works.
However, many civic officials and other employees are on leave on account of the Diwali festival and the routine work at civic offices is expected to resume fully only from next week.
The Code of Conduct came into force immediately after the schedule for the State polls was announced on September 21. A large number of civic officials and other staff were thereafter deputed on election duty.
The official vehicles of all office-bearers and committee heads were withdrawn the same day. Corporators and leaders of various political parties were engaged in their respective poll campaigns and did not visit the municipal offices during the past few weeks.
This drastically reduced the number of visitors to the municipal headquarters and other offices.
The Code of Conduct was relaxed by the district administration on Wednesday, October 30.
A meeting of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Standing Committee will be held on Wednesday, November 6.
