PIMPRI: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will be organising the international Pimpri Chinchwad ‘Festival of the Future’ here on February 28 and 29.
The festival is being held with a view to inspire young entrepreneurs to encourage the youth involved in new industries and to expedite skill development.
The other objectives are to strengthen the health of the residents and to build an environment-friendly city.
The Festival of the Future will be held at the Auto Cluster in Chinchwad.
Nearly 1,000 start-up entrepreneurs from all over the State are scheduled to participate in the festival on Friday and Saturday.
Besides entrepreneurs, experts from various sectors will also attend the festival.
There will be an exhibition of various projects made by 20 start-up industry professionals. The festival will offer an opportunity for new companies to market their products.
PCMC Commissioner Shravan Hardikar said that the government has been implementing various projects for the development of the city.
“These schemes include Smart City, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Ayushman Bharat. Therefore, the Festival of the Future will give priority to concentrate on new research and projects related to start-ups,” he said.
A ‘Citizen Hackathon’ will also be organised during the festival to encourage people to think novel ideas and suggest remedial measures to find a solution to various problems.
The civic body will give a prize money of Rs 9 lakh for the hackathon.
