PCMC General Body approves annual budget

Pimpri: The General Body (GB) of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has approved the annual budget for the civic body on Tuesday. Total outlay for the budget is Rs 5,262 crore and the meeting was presided over by Mayor Nitin Kalje. 

Earlier, after a long discussion of seven and half hours on the budget, the GB was adjourned on March 20. 

The ruling party has given record 1,112 supplementary suggestions to the budget and a total outlay of these supplementaries crosses Rs 300 crore. 

The civic administration published these supplementaries on March 21. The then Standing Committee chairperson had made an announcement of accepted and rejected supplementaries.

Later, Mayor Kalje announced that the budget was approved.

PCMC Commissioner Shravan Hardikar had tabled a Rs 5,235.23 crore budget on February 15.

The Standing Committee has made changes and budgetary allocation has been changed to Rs 5,162 crore, which was submitted to the General Body on February 26.

After several adjournments of the budget meeting, the budget came up for discussion at Tuesday's meeting.

1,112 supplementaries to Budget
At the end of the discussion, corporators across party lines suggested supplementaries to the budget on large scale. Officials of the civic body said that over 1112 supplementary suggestions were raised by the members. A total amount of these supplementaries crosses budgetary allocation of Rs 300 crore.
