PCMC to fine pet lovers for dirtying space

The municipal corporation’s Health and Medical Officer Dr K Anil Roy has issued a statement on Wednesday, stating that action against these people will be taken as per an order of the state urban development department, dated July 1, 2019.

PIMPRI: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has warned that people leaving behind excreta of their pet animals in public spaces will be levied with fines.

The municipal corporation’s Health and Medical Officer Dr K Anil Roy has issued a statement on Wednesday, stating that action against these people will be taken as per an order of the state urban development department, dated July 1, 2019.

The statement said that the government notification has made a provision for imposing fines on those who were found creating nuisance in public spaces. The acts of public nuisance include feeding animals or birds or leaving behind excreta of pet animals in public spaces.

The pet owners will be responsible for the uncleanliness caused by their pets in public spaces, the statement said.
