PCB to increase VET

PCB to increase VET

PUNE: The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) will be increasing the Vehicle Entry Tax (VET) under its limits. The PCB earns Rs 10.5 crore annually from VET, but now, the earnings will go up to Rs 15 crore.

PCB Chief Executive Officer Amit Kumar said, “The approval was granted after PCB received suggestions in favour of the new rates from the residents of Cantonment. We will soon float a tender to appoint an agency for collection. The new rates will come into effect once we complete the tender process.”

As per the Cantonment Act 2006, the board is authorised to revise the rates after every five years. After the implementation of GST, cantonments across India had stopped collecting VET. The rates were last revised in 2013.
