PUNE: The incessant rainfall since July had caused potholes on several main roads and bylanes in the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) limits. The PCB floated a tender for road repairs worth Rs 5 crore on Friday. It has 48-km road network, of which, about 40 per cent are riddled with potholes.
PCB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Amit Kumar said, “We have floated re-tender for the same. We are expecting more bidders.”
The board floated a tender for the same in September and then the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) was announced due to State Assembly election. At that time the cost of the tender was Rs 3 crore. “When the first tender was floated on September 10-12, only two bidders participated. We floated the tender again and expect more to come,” said Ajay Kumar.
Residents of cantonment limits said the PCB should work properly on road maintenance.
