Passport Office warns citizens about advertisements by touts

Pune: The Pune Regional Passport Office (RPO) has warned citizens against advertisements published by touts on websites, promising fast issuance of passports.

The office has advised citizens to desist from dealing with such agents as they may charge exorbitantly and make false promises that could lead to financial penalties and closing of applicants’ file.

“We hold many camps, have opened several new passport centres including Post Office Passport Seva Kendras so that those aspiring to get passports do not have to wait for a long time. The waiting time has come down to a few days for normal bookings. Hence, citizens can obtain the passport on their own at the earliest by filling the forms online and then visiting PSKs on the given appointment day,” said Anant Takwale, RPO, Pune.
