Pune: To help the parents seeking admissions for their children under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, the education department has declared that the parents will be given an opportunity to make changes to the Google location in their application forms.

The parents will be allowed to tweak the location of their homes on Google Maps and change the school preference list accordingly, from May 29 to June 4.

A couple of days ago, Joint Director of Education Dinkar Temkar had informed Sakal Times that the parents will be allotted a particular period of time to make these changes, since many faced difficulties in selecting the location on the map. This resulted in wrong selection of the schools.

According to the letter issued by Education Director (Primary) Sunil Chauhan, “The parents whose application form did not get ‘confirmed’ status will be allowed to do so from Wednesday onwards. Furthermore, those parents who have not yet been allotted school in the first lottery can check their Google location and change it before the second lottery releases.”

However, for the parents who have been allotted school in the first lottery, there will be a probe into their complaint to check if their claims are right and only then would they be allowed to make the changes. This has been decided to prevent any kind of misconduct on part of the parents.
