Panel to tackle issues from admn to abuse

PUNE: After declaring the formation of committees to tackle the issues of fee regulation, the State government has released a Government Resolution (GR) about the types of complaints by students, institutes and schools that will be dealt with by these committees.

State Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad, during the Assembly session, had declared the formation of eight divisional committees and one fee revision committee to take care of the grievances of parents regarding fee hike by schools.

For students, the divisional committees will mainly look after complaints regarding admissions at private schools and the compulsion of schools to make parents buy books and uniforms only from a particular vendor. Complaints regarding admissions, uniforms, books, etc. under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act will also be covered. The divisional committees have also been ordered to take up the complaints of sexual and mental abuse on children.

The schools can also approach these committees for approval of proposals for starting additional batches, complaints regarding action over unauthorised schools and providing NOCs to the schools among others.

OTHER ISSUES
- Complaints about school picnics
- Complaints about caste-based discrimination
- Complaints about periods, teachers
- Complaints about corporal punishment
