Over 4 lakh children get polio vaccines

Pune: According to the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Health Department, 4.06 lakh children less than five years of age from Pune district received polio vaccinations on Sunday.

There were 3,592 booths across the district for the immunisation drive. The centres were at ST bus stands, railway stations, gardens, building construction sites, highways and other important spots.

The expected turnout was 4.80 lakh children. Over 29,000 children were given polio doses through transit and mobile teams. 
The administration said the remaining kids will be immunised within five days. The officials have formed 2,025 teams for this purpose. Ten children were given polio vaccines in Yerwada jail.
