Now, login to mobile app for consumer grievance redressal

Pune: Due to lack of digital infrastructure for conducting video conferencing, the consumer grievance redressal forum had to stop its functioning during the lockdown, but now the forums has armed itself digitally. The forum has launched two mobile apps - 'Consumer Connect' app for litigants to upload their documents; and 'Go To Meeting' app for conducting hearings. Through these two apps, consumers can now seek justice in their case while staying at home.

The forum was using these apps on trial basis only for Mumbai region before the lockdown began. After the lockdown due to corona virus outbreak, these apps were made open to use for all. Since the complainants, respondents and advocates scan and upload their documents, the forum president and members can see them on mobile or computer devices.

Shrikant Joshi of Akhil Bhartiya Grahak Panchayat said, "Online grievance mechanism is essential, but it should be easy to access and easy to use for the common citizens. Grievance redressal through mobile apps will definitely speedup the process for seeking justice in consumer complaints."

"The process of informing advocates and litigants about registering cases online has begun. We have given appointments for the next eight days. The state forum's online functioning would commence regularly from June 15,” said, Adv. Umesh Jawalikar, President, Pune District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum.
