Newly Elected MLA of Kothrud Gift Sarees To Slum Dwellers , Solar Lamps To Societies
Chandrakant Patil, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) the newly elected Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Kothrud in Pune, has distributed sarees in the constituency as 'Bhau-beej' gift.
Pune: Chandrakant Patil, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) the newly elected Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Kothrud in Pune, has distributed sarees in the constituency as 'Bhau-beej' gift. Some of Local corporators of BJP in the state assembly constituency distributed sarees on Monday and Tuesday. Besides that, Patil has also distributed solar lamps for societies.
Patil has requested the corporators from Kothrud constituency to help him distribute the sarees among women in their respective wards.
While speaking to Sakal times, Local corporator of BJP, Dilip Vede said, “ four corportors from Kothrud state assembly constituency including me distributed sarees to slum dwellers. We gave one saree to each family in slum areas.”
Patil, who was termed as an "outsider", won from Kothrud by more than 25000 votes defeating Maharashtra Navnirman Sena candidate Kishor Shinde.
After criticism of opposition parties over the decision of distribution of sarees,Patil released video and cleared his stand.
Patil said,” I believe in giving...last year, on the occasion of my birthday, I wanted to give school uniform fabric and shoes to schoolgirls in Marathawada as there was a drought. I appealed my well-wishers to help me instead of greeting me with bouquets and his well-wishers responded positively, he could give uniform fabric to 35000 girls and shoes for 5000.”
He said, “ I thought I should do something for my sisters on this Bhau-beej, who are economically backward, live in slums, work as domestic help. I appealed to some of my friends and several of them have responded positively by giving sarees.”
He further added, “ the saree distribution is restricted to Kothrud constituency. From this year, we are starting with Kothrud, but from next year, my target would be to implement this exercise in all eight constituencies in Pune.”
Solar lamps for Societies
Patil said that he has procured some solar lamps from a Delhi-based firm which will also be distributed among the chairpersons of housing societies. "I have sent 50 solar lamps in all constituencies in Pune and asked the local party office bearers to distribute them among the housing society chairpersons," he said
