Pune: A  National Defence Academy (NDA) cadet allegedly committed suicide by hanging on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Alekh Jaiswal, a fifth term student of the three-year course at the academy.

“He was found hanging in his room on the ground floor of the ‘H’ squadron at 5.15 pm. The cadet was immediately rushed to the Military Hospital, Khadakwasla, but could not be revived,” a statement from the Defence PRO said.

The NDA authorities said that the local police and his parents have been informed about the incident. He was a Navy cadet and was pursuing BSc (Computer Science). He had joined the academy after completing studies at the Sainik School, Ambikapur.

An NDA official told Sakal Times, “The deceased had interacted with other cadets around 4.30 pm. We are conducting enquiry about what led him to take this extreme step.”
