NCP workers protest against ED probe against Pawar

PUNE: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar’s hometown Baramati, about 106 km from here, observed a total bandh on Wednesday to protest against the launching of a probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against him, his nephew Ajit Pawar and others. Later, Baramati police lodged an FIR against the protesters.

In Pune, the NCP city unit conducted an  agitation in Mandai at Tilak statue on Wednesday. NCP corporators and party leaders were present at the protest. NCP Youth Wing workers staged a protest outside the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The protestors shouted slogans against the ruling BJP and the government.

The protestors were led by NCP City Unit President Chetan Tupe. He said, “The ED filed the case against Pawar given the huge response his campaign rallies have received. The ED is being used to stifle voices of opposition leaders ahead of the election. Hence, we staged the protest.”

The NCP Youth Wing also protested outside the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office on JM Road. Party workers threw  black ink on the gate of the BJP office.
