Pimpri: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and the Leader of the Opposition in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Datta Sane has announced a cash award for those submitting a selfie with potholes in the city.
Sane has said that those submitting the selfies with potholes will be given a cash award of Rs 100.
The NCP has declared the cash award for ‘selfie with a pothole’ to condemn the civic administration’s alleged inaction to repair the roads.
The selfies should be sent to WhatsApp number 9822199599 or should be tagged to the Facebook page ‘Selfie with Khadda’. The senders should also give details of the location of the potholes, their names and contact numbers.
The recent wet spell has created potholes on various streets in the city, causing hardships to road users, especially two-wheeler riders. A young woman who was riding a two-wheeler was recently run over by a PMPML bus at Chinchwad after she fell from her vehicle.
In a statement issued here, Sane has said that Pimpri Chinchwad Mayor Nitin Kalje had recently asked the civic administration to get rid of all potholes in the city but the civic authorities have not implemented the directive.
The NCP leader has said that the civic administration has earlier claimed that Pimpri-Chinchwad was totally pothole-free. Now, the civic administration has claimed that the city has only 349 potholes when actually there are lakhs of potholes in the city.
Sane said that the office-bearers of the ruling party should personally pay attention to make the city potholes-free.
